5 Outdoor Sports Photographers You Should be Following on Instagram

The outdoor and adventure sports photography market seems to be flooded with talented and upcoming individuals right now. Here are five that stand out for me (and that you probably haven’t heard of… yet).

Ashley Barker – @barkerfoto

Ashley’s been in the business for over 15 years now and has an impressive editorial and commercial client list. Her insta feed is full of skiers and snowboarders pulling off epic tricks in the big mountains.

Martin Erd – @martinerdphoto

Martin was one of the few hand-picked photographers to shoot the Suzuki Nine Knights last year and won the Best Illumination category in the photo comp. He’s based in Munich and his insta channel will give you a mix of action, lifestyle and behind the scenes shots.

Claudia Ziegler – @claudia.ziegler

If you’re into your climbing, you’ve probably seen some of Claudia’s work in magazines or on posters. She had two images in the Red Bull Illume finals last year and her feed is full of incredible outdoor climbing and scenic vistas.

Christoph Oberschneider – @coberschneider

Christoph is one of the most active photographers on my instagram feed. He seems to be constantly in the mountains shooting skiers and mountain bikers, so I’ve no idea how he has the time to edit and upload his shots so frequently. Clearly very talented, last year he won the Pro Alpinism category of the King of Dolomites photo comp.

Jaanus Ree – @jaanusree

Jaanus has no shortage of creativity, achieving three finalist images in the New Creativity category of Red Bull Illume, including one capturing the reflection of a bmx-er in a cat’s eyes. He’s using that creativity in his coverage of the WRC rally around the world, which you can check in the regular posts on his instagram feed.
